3rd Annual Athens Veterans Day Parade in Athens, Alabama

Athens honored those who have fought for their country and placed service before self; our Veterans, at the 3rd annual Athens Veterans Day Parade where John Calvin Martin served as the Grand Marshal. Mr. Martin, is a World War II veteran.

The entries consisted of community organizations as the East Limestone Marching Band' the Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts, the Mustang Club, Corvette Club,  Athens High JROTC, antique vehicles and horse & buggies.

The winning entries were the Burial Detail who won the "Most Patriotic and the Ardmore Vets won 'Best Overall' float.

The 'Honor Flight' veterans float was sponsored by McClary Ford which carried 11 veterans. The 'Purple Heart' float carried Buford Franklin the recipient of 5 purple hearts. 

Money raised will be split between the local burial detail and Alabama Veterans Museum and Archives.
