North Alabama Attractions and Events Rank High

as Alabama Tourism Department Releases 2010 Attendance Numbers

Decatur, AL – North Alabama’s attractions and events once again rank high as the Alabama Tourism Department releases the 2010 attendance numbers. Topping the list of attractions that charge admission is the U.S. Space & Rocket Center in Huntsville, which ranked second with attendance of 540,153. In fifth place was the Huntsville Botanical Garden with 300,000 visitors, and Point Mallard Park in Decatur ranked tenth with 185,000.

Free Attractions

On the free attractions list, the Shrine of the Most Blessed Sacrament in Hanceville was tenth with 25,000.

Festivals
The W.C. Handy Music Festival in Florence placed fifth on the state’s festival list with 150,000 in attendance. The Trail of Tears Commemorative Ride in Waterloo ranked seventh with 65,000, and the Spirit of America Festival in Decatur had 60,000 visitors for ninth place.

Natural Destinations
Lake Guntersville State Park in Guntersville was fourth in natural destinations with 483,745, Monte Sano State Park in Huntsville placed seventh with 270,000, Joe Wheeler State Park in Rogersville ranked eighth with 265,770, Little River Canyon National Preserve in Fort Payne was ninth with 192,574, and Goose Pond Colony in Scottsboro was tenth with 180,000.
