A Great Gift, Just in
time for Mother's Day!
Sister Schubert posed for photos, signed her books, all
while others sampled delicious rolls and sweet breads from her famous
recipes.
Regina Crawford appreciated all the residents
who came to see Sister Schubert and purchased her cookbook "Cast Your Bread
Upon The Water".
Mayor Dan Williams said in his facebook post, "I appreciate
Crawford's for bringing her to Athens. I
expected to see an elderly grandmother with her hair in a bun baking rolls.
Sister is anything but that. She will make you take a second look when you
see her. She really is a beautiful, very nice lady
who was
complimentary of our people and community. I gave her a key to the city".
The cookbook is dedicated to Sister's grandmother, Leona Henderson Wood,
affectionately known to her family as "Gommey", who shared her love of
baking bread, managing a family and a business, and most importantly, doing
it all with God's help.
