For the Past 29 years,
Sheriff Mike Blakely has put on one of Alabama's finest
Rodeos to support his department with cruisers, a helicopter
and other law enforcement equipment.
In preparation for the
Rodeo, there are several KICK-OFF events. First, is the
Parade, which leaves from the Rodeo Arena to the Downtown
Athens Square. The Grand Marshall this year is Athens' retiring Probate Judge, Mike Davis.
Other activities are
the Preston's Kid's Day, with free horseback rides, followed
by a street dance on the square and the Exceptional Rodeo on
Friday morning.
