For the Past 29 years, Sheriff Mike Blakely has put on one of Alabama's finest Rodeos to support his department with cruisers, a helicopter and other law enforcement equipment.

In preparation for the Rodeo, there are several KICK-OFF events. First, is the Parade, which leaves from the Rodeo Arena to the Downtown Athens Square. The Grand Marshall this year is Athens' retiring Probate Judge, Mike Davis.

Other activities are the Preston's Kid's Day, with free horseback rides, followed by a street dance on the square and the Exceptional Rodeo on Friday morning.

Here is the line up of events for Rodeo Week:
Monday May 16th - 5PM Preston's Kid's Day,
Tuesday May 17th - 7PM Street Dance,
Thursday May 19th - 9AM Slack $5 ,
Friday May 20th 10AM-2PM Exceptional Rodeo,
6PM First Night Rodeo -
Saturday May 21st 6PM Gates Open
