1st Term Mayor Ronnie Marks is in the Pokey!

Okay, we have head all the excuses before, "I didn't mean to take that candy bar," "I didn't realize I was speeding," "did I really miss my court date?" Excuses - excuses! Not any more... it was lock up time at the Athens City Jail Friday February 19th... starting with the new Mayor Ronnie Marks.

As time passed so did the arrests, Chief Wayne Harper and his officer Kelley Fussell, mother & daughter business owners Shirley Kimbrough & Sheree Barnes, so many scoundrels - they just kept on coming!

It was a great day for the fundraiser that is a crime to have... the Relay for Life 'Lock-Up'.  All the offenders were locked up by a loved one (or not) for $5. -  and had to raise bail of $20 to get out. This is just one of several fundraisers to be held for Relay for Life cancer fundraising event of the American Cancer Society. All proceeds from the days event will be donated to Limestone Relay for Life, to be held May 13 at Swan Creek Park.

Other events are April 29th - Yard Sale Benefit for Relay for Life from 7:00 AM-2:00 PM. In front of City Hall on Hobbs Street -  Variety of household items, small furniture, clothing, and tools contact  Vicky Dowd at 233-8730. Sponsored by City of Athens Relay for Life Team.
