Okay, we have head all the excuses before, "I didn't
mean to take that candy bar," "I didn't realize I was speeding," "did I
really miss my court date?" Excuses - excuses! Not any more... it was
lock up time at the Athens City Jail Friday February 19th... starting
with the new Mayor Ronnie Marks.
As time passed so did the arrests, Chief Wayne Harper
and his officer Kelley Fussell, mother & daughter business owners
Shirley Kimbrough & Sheree Barnes, so many scoundrels - they just kept
on coming!
It was a great day for the fundraiser that is a crime to
have... the Relay for Life 'Lock-Up'. All the offenders were
locked up by a loved one (or not) for $5. - and had to raise bail
of $20 to get out. This is just one of several fundraisers to be held
for Relay for Life cancer fundraising event of the American Cancer
Society. All proceeds from the days event will be donated to Limestone
Relay for Life, to be held May 13 at Swan Creek Park.
Other events are

PM. In front of City Hall on Hobbs Street - Variety of household items,
small furniture, clothing, and tools contact Vicky Dowd at 233-8730.
