We can move a mountain when we come Together!

The MTM Unity Crew, were given an unbelievable opportunity to support the Children’s MiracleKameron Hardy, battling Retinoblastoma and Leukemia, was given a concert to help raise money for surgery on his eye. Network through Mrs. Bessie Bell of The Golden Corral restaurant chain. Mrs. Bell serves as the local store marketing director for Golden Corral as well as the CEO of Just Be Reel Marketing Agency in Birmingham. Mrs. Bell extended the invitation to MTM to attend a free concert featuring Holy Hip Hop artist Canton Jones as her special VIP guests. The concert was given to raise funds for a young cancer survivor, Kameron Hardy, who is battling two forms of cancer at the same time.

The MTM Unity Kid’s extended an invitation to children in our Community to share in this tremendous blessing. The response was overwhelming to say the least. Soon we realized that we were faced with transportation issues. How do we get 167 plus people to Birmingham? We were offered the free use of a bus however that bus experienced some mechanical problems and we were back to square one.

Our dilemma was shared with some local ministries and leaders in the community. There was a tremendous community response. Needless to say we were able to secure two buses, church vans and some even offered to drive their own vehicles to insure that the children in the community could attend this concert. We were on our way to Birmingham finally. Once there, needless to say, the kids enjoyed themselves to the fullest. They were given an opportunity to have a meet and greet with concert headliner Canton Jones, as well as taking pictures with him. The MTM Kids are familiar with his music and have a great love and admiration for Mr. Jones. He has a unique and very effective way of communicating with young people through his music. His message is one of hope and confidence in God and in ones self. Mr. Jones demonstrated his commitment to the cause by giving a financial contribution to the family of young Kameron Hardy right on stage and encouraged concert goers to follow suit.

Jan with Canton Jones

This weekend proved just what can happen when a community comes together focused on one common goal. We saw this happen with our own eyes and are forever grateful to our community for the support and assistance given to make this dream a reality for our children. The trip was life changing for many of the children who responded to an altar call given by Mr. Jones and gave their lives to Christ. Many others were inspired and encouraged as their hope in humanity and community was restored.

The MTM Unity Crew is eternally grateful to so many in our community and we would like to offer our thanks to those who came together in a strong show of unity to make this dream come true. We would like to thank, The Pleasant Grove Church and Pastor John W. Jude, The Lindsey Lane Baptist Church and Pastor Dusty McLemore, Kim Adams and Joe Teal of the First Baptist Church, Bruce Walters and Willie Reinhardt of The Friendship United Methodist Church, The New Destiny International Church of Huntsville, Pastor Manigan and a host of other community supporters and friends. Our home church, Pleasant Grove Church, purchased the bus!

Birmingham, AL –Grammy-Stellar and Dove nominated Christian songwriter and producer Canton Jones is the featured headliner in a free Jan. 29 concert at Boutwell Auditorium to celebrate children cancer survivors and to benefit the Children’s Miracle Network.

Golden Corral, a longtime supporter of the Children’s Miracle Network Campaign, is hosting a series of special luncheons and concerts organized only in the Magic City, where Jones will debut his newest album, Dominionaire. Dominionaire hits stores on Feb.1.

Telisa Stinson of Special Tees, a veteran executive, in the gospel music industry and talent coordinator for this great venture, said she was excited about linking Jones’ album release to such a special event. “This is a wonderful opportunity to partner Birmingham’s Golden Corral restaurants with an innovative music promotion, which marries Gospel music’s ‘Holy Helping Hands’ to a major corporation that gives back to the community by supporting causes like the Children’s Miracle Network.”

Jones’ urban R&B music, tinged with hip-hop strains, is as diverse as the crowds that he reaches monthly at “The Basement,” a phenomenal Birmingham Christian movement that outgrew previous spaces over the years and now meets at the Church of the Highlands.

Bessie Bell, Golden Corral’s local store marketing director and CEO of Just Be Reel Marketing Agency, helped create and coordinate the concert event. “One of the things that Golden Corral loves most about being a part of the Birmingham community is the diversity of its people and the power that they have to reach out to help one another.” The event is also sponsored in part by Aaron’s Sales and Leasing.

In addition to his concert appearance, Jones is scheduled to visit children at Children’s Hospital in Birmingham. And he will make a special presentation to Kameron Hardy, a nine year old cancer survivor battling Retinoblastoma and Leukemia. Fans will also have an opportunity to have lunch with Canton from 12pm – 2pm at Golden Corral – Parkway East location in Birmingham. The new Dominionaire CD will be available at the restaurant and concert for purchase.

Jones headlines a slate of Birmingham-based Christian performers at the concert, which starts at 5 p.m.
