Family Helping Family and
Neighbors
from Illinois to Alabama
I've always known I had a wonderful family, but sometimes, when there is a crisis, you see how wonderful and how much you can really count on them to not only help you but your whole community.
This week my cousin, Josh Todd and his wife Melissa, from Peru, Illinois, contacted me to find out what his Church family needed to do to help. They want to go into an East Limestone neighborhood where his brother lives, to assist the families who were not as fortunate.
They arrived on Wednesday to get permission and information to set up tents for supplies, medical needs and food. They will work thru this weekend offering spiritual, and physical assistance for the communities in the McCulley Mills area.
They are with the Eagle
Rock Christian Center from Peru, IL. Josh
informed me they will have 1 team set up for
prayer, clothes, and food at 29815 Orville Smith
Rd. 1 team will be at 14809 McCulley Mill Rd at
Camens Court right by Tremont for basic medical
needs. Two other teams will be in helping with
cleanup at the same address on McCulley Mill
and
will also be serving daily meals to anyone who
wants to come and eat.
At this time 22 people are coming down to
assist,
an Apostle, a Pastor, a Nurse Director and 12
recent graduates from Cross Training Honor
Academy, that have been trained to do relief
work, plus Josh's family and friends.
Their goal is to provide hope in the midst of
crisis and relief from the burden of
hopelessness. The team will assist in clean up,
medical and will give away food and clothes
throughout the weekend.
On Sunday, they will be holding a service on
location to encourage all those that are
suffering through such a devastating time.
Eagle Rock Christian Center is no stranger to
emergency assistance, they have responded to
numerous relief and mission trips. They have
made 2 trips into Haiti for the Earthquake
Relief and planning another one in Sept. They
also do yearly missions trips to Black Hills,
South Dakota on the Indian Reservation with the
Lakota Indians, and have been to Kentucky 2
times with relief in the mountains of Hayden.
I wanted to post their information to
let the people of North Alabama know they
haven't been forgotten. People are and will
continue to come from all areas to help. We
can't use the services of everyone at one time,
plus our needs change from day to day and week
to week. But, there are people are working right
now to come to our aid, we just don't know it
yet! We need to keep our Faith, accept help
where it is offered, and continue to look for
ways to care for our neighbors.
Thank you is such a small word to say for all the people coming to our aid, but it all some have left to give.
Thank you to everyone for your gifts of support, love, prayers, food, clothing and most of all your time to care for others.
