Habitat for Humanity's First Women Build 2012

Our first 2012 Women Build meeting is going to be January 31, Tuesday, at the Athens Visitor Center at 6:30PM. This meeting will revolve around organizing our groups that will lead our Women Build event.

Target groups will lead on the build site, lead fundraising events and media relations. We would like to have “mini-build” clinics to get us ready for the big event! We would like to target areas that need some curb appeal and TLC.

During the year, we will work through Habitat’s Brush-with-Kindness program and with homeowners to update homes in great need of exterior work, such as painting, roof repairs, window/door renovations, etc…

Many Habitat affiliates across the country have had great results with this as neighbors of communities all chip in to make a difference. It’s infectious they say. Neighbors get excited when they see what a difference is made with one home and then it spreads and everyone is looking to pitch in! Before you know it one block can be transformed into a new neighborhood, new caring friendships are made, and a desire builds in them to be invested in their community. A beautiful thing!
