Welcome

We would like to welcome you to Athens Eye Care Center, P.C. It is our privilege to provide you with the best care available. We offer a broad range of eye services from medical and emergency eye care, surgical co-management, refractive surgery consultations, routine vision care, contact lens examinations, and ophthalmic materials including eyeglasses and contact lenses.

  • Your appointment is reserved exclusively for you. Therefore, if you are late or are unable to maintain the appointment please give at least 24 hours notice to avoid being charged a broken appointment fee. Please be prepared to spend about an hour with us. However, depending on the type of examination and the number of tests or treatments needed it may take more than an hour. Our office knows your time is valuable and we work diligently to stay on schedule. However, in the event one of our patients has an eye emergency, a patient may be called out of turn. Please understand we will extend the same courtesy to you should you require immediate attention.

  • Please bring the following items with you to your appointment:

  • a. All insurance cards and referral forms. If your insurance requires a referral, it is your responsibility to contact your primary care physician and obtain the referral number and any other necessary information.

  • b. A driver’s license or photo identification.

  • c. A complete list of all medications that you use, including vitamins and herbal remedies, their dosage and frequency, and the name of your doctor(s).
Our doctor needs this information to provide comprehensive care.

  • d. Any prescription glasses, sunglasses, and boxes of contact lenses that you may wear.

  • Dilating eye drops are used in the course of a comprehensive exam. They are essential in obtaining an adequate view of the retina. Side effects of dilation are blurred vision, especially at near, and sensitivity to light. Your ability to read road signs, judge distances and drive may be impaired. You may want to have someone come with you to drive you home following your appointment.

Our Collection Policy: Payment is due the day services are rendered. As a courtesy to our patients, we will be happy to file most claims. If you have insurance, you will be required to pay your co-pay, co-insurance and/or deductibles at each visit. If you have any questions about your insurance or account, please feel free to speak with us before being evaluated by the doctor.

We hope this introduction will help make your visit with us as pleasant and efficient as possible. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to give us a call. Again, thank you for allowing us to participate in your eye care.

    Sincerely,

    Dr. Leanne Whitaker and Staff
