The Limestone County
Sheriff's Exceptional Rodeo was Friday May 20th at the Rodeo
Arena. Announcer Mark Northall, welcomed all the guest to
the beginning of the 29th year for Sheriff Mike Blakely to
hold his annual rodeo.
In attendance for the
first time ever at the Sheriff's Rodeo, or ever at any rodeo
was Miss Wheelchair Alabama 2011 Shannon Roberts. Shannon
Roberts, a senior majoring in psychology at Athens State
University, was crowned the 2011 Ms. Wheelchair Alabama at
the annual pageant in April in Birmingham.
Volunteers and
business help to put on this special day of fun by
supporting with t-shirts, drinks, food, horses and
buggy/train rides.
The children love the
music and dancing, the petting zoo, face painting and of
course the clowns!
The Exceptional Rodeo
was the idea of the first Miss Limestone Sheriff Queen, as
she wanted to do more during the rodeo for the children, so
for the past 9 years, Sheriff Blakely and his staff and
volunteers has put on this rodeo for the children.
