School will be
starting back on August 15th, and Athens DHR is doing their
best to make sure the children they help have all the school
supplies they need to start the school year.
Jennifer White, is the
Program Supervisor Adult/Family Children Services, Community
Resource Specialist for Limestone County DHR. The supply
drive began approximately 10 years ago due to the economy
and with the community's support has been active ever since.
In Tuesday's school
supply distribution, DHR recruited Home Schooled Students to
help to fill paper grocery bags from the different families
of the supplies they needed. When asked why the they wanted
to help, one replied, "I really enjoy helping others, I was
here last year and hope to come back and help again."
The school supply
distribution day was from 7:AM-7:PM August 9th, although DHR
will hand out supplies as the needs arise.
