Alabama Veterans Museum October Coffee Call 2010

Record attendance of over 180 for the October Coffee Call at the Alabama Veterans Museum which was sponsored by Mayor Dan Williams. Dan Williams has been the mayor of Athens for 18 years and is running for the House of Representatives (Republican).

Guest at the coffee this month were Katherine Lockwood, niece of museum volunteer Ralph Green. Katie is currently in the United States Navy as a Electronics Technician in Charleston, South Carolina.

Another special guest was introduced by Representative Henry White, John F. Knight Alabama State Representative. Rep, Knight was impressed with the work of the mostly volunteer museum and pledged $25,000 to the museum for the building fund.

Knight was awarded the Silver Star for battlefield valor as an Army sergeant in the Vietnam War. Representative John Knight is the Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer of Alabama State University elected in 1993.

Additionally, he is the Chairman of the Montgomery County Democratic Conference.
