With another large crowd of approximately 120, the Alabama Veterans Museum honored 4 young history enthusiast with $50 saving bonds from the 'Spot the History.'

To give our young residents a fun learning activity, Director Sandy Thompson offered a scavenger hunt game for students 6-12, during the Christmas break, from December 18th - January 8th.

Two students were selected in each of the two age categories, 6-9 and 10-12 from the twenty students who participated and presented each one Saturday morning with a $50 Savings Bonds. Congratulations to our "SPOT THE HISTORY" winners! Age 6-9: Dylan Hilliard & Deven Hargrove - Age 10-12: Jaclyn Long & Jacob Todd.

This year’s 'Spot the HIstory' sponsor is Vietnam Veteran, Al Martin, who wants our children to learn of the sacrifices that all our veterans made that paved their way for freedom!

In January, the museum saw 180 guest for the Martin Luther King Day Program. The Power's meeting room was used for the Gold Wing Bikers group, SOCV, NARF and the United Daughters of the Confederacy.

Daily visitors were larger than usual for the month of January, plus a reporter from the Redstone Rocket interviewed the mother of our first Limestone County casualty in the war in Iraq, Becky Loggins.

Becky lost her son Marine Lance Cpl. Adam Loggins, 27, on April 26, 2007 by sniper fire while conducting combat operations in Anbar province of Iraq. Loggins was a member of the 3rd Battalion, 6th Regiment, 2nd Marine Division, II Marine Expeditionary Force, Camp Lejeune, N.C. Loggins' Purple Heart, Marine Coin, many photos and his uniform are on display in the Museum.
