Congratulations to Jimmy Smith of Jimmy Smith Buick-GMC. Jimmy
receives the Citizen of the Year Award from the Athens Ladies Civitan Club for his efforts and dedication to service and to
outstanding leadership in serving the Athens community.
Other
awards given to:
Service Organization of the year, Athens Limestone County
Retired Teachers Association, President Anita Raby accepted on
behalf of the organization. They assist both the club and
district in judging essays for the Civitan Essay Contest open to
local students.

Civitan of the Year Elizabeth McDowell, Club Honor Key
The Athens Ladies Civitans sponsors many charities for the
Athens community. Operation Santa Claus for clients at
Mental Health Center, Easter Basket Program for Limestone Manor,
Valentine Party for Tanner Special Ed students and Administrative
Professionals Appreciation Luncheon are just a few.
Project the Civitans assist with are the Donnell House
Festival of Trees, DHR Christmas Family, Special Olympics Track
and Field Event, Postal Workers Food Bank Can-A-Thon, Hospice
Chili Challenge, United Way Relay for Life, Cancer Society Relay
for Life, Houston Library Street Fair and the Athens Hospital
Bake Sale plus many many other.
