Cemetery Walking Tour 02 October, 2011
The
Tourism board of the Athens-Limestone Chamber of
Commerce and the Hobbs camp of the Sons of
Confederate Veterans will be presenting a
Cemetery Walking Tour at the Athens City
Cemetery the afternoon of Sunday 02 October.
Over
two dozen actors will portray people from Athens
history. Most will be stationed at the
gravesite of the character they will portray.
Several will be a descendent portraying their
ancestor, such as Jerry Barksdale who will be
portraying his Great-Great-Grandfather Daniel
Barksdale
(1797-1896).
The hours will be 2:PM to 4:PM. There is no admission, but donations will be go toward repairs and preservation of this cemetery.
