A reception was held on August 26th for Hugh Ball, President of the Greater Athens-Limestone County Chamber of Commerce. Ball has been the Chamber President for a little over 6 years and has seen growth and progress in our community during this time.

Ball organized the 1st formal Tourism Council under the leadership of Jeanette Dunnavant, restarted the Adult Leadership program, developed the Total Resource program, Created the Chamber Ambassador program, conducted quarterly Afterhours Coffees, created and maintained the new Chamber Website, published the Chamber Newsletter and many many other programs and projects. Ball was born in North Carolina, served 3 yrs. in the Army, worked on the Apollo Space Program for 12 years and worked 20 years at Intergraph before becoming the President of the Athens Chamber.

Many friends and business people spoke to Ball's accomplishments while Chamber President, and all agreed he will be sorely missed. Mayor Marks presented Ball with a Certificate of Appreciation on behalf of the Mayor's Office and City Council and a Key to the City!
