Now – Oct 31st - The Athens North Pole Stroll tree sponsors are being accepted now at the Athens-Limestone Visitors Center (100 North Beaty Street in Athens)! Athens North Pole Stroll is a display of live cut Christmas Trees located in the Big Spring Memorial Park (AKA ‘the Duck Pond’) in the Historic Beaty District. Lowe's of Athens has made 7’ trees available for Athens-Limestone County Tourism to sponsor to businesses, organizations, churches, schools, individuals and families for $100.00 each.  Athens City Parks and Recreation Department will have the trees standing and awaiting the decorators. This holiday event offers organizations, businesses, churches, families and individuals who sponsor trees great fun coming up with their own special theme.  Make plans to bring family and friends to visit the park during this grand event (More details to come). Sep 5th -- Fall Soccer Opening Day at the Athens SportsPlex (U.S. Highway 31N in Athens) starting at 5:30PM.  Special random drawing for each league will have 2 players leaving with special prizes (Must be present to win).

Sep 5th -- A Christmas Trio Audition with Rocket City Theatrics Elite Performing Arts Academy (15700 East Limestone Road in Athens) from 3:30PM-5:00PM.  This will be open auditions, everyone will get a part.

Sep 5th -- Be bold, Go Gold and The Flash Dash46 -- Come help kick off Childhood cancer month and Superhero Week with Eli's Block Party at the Limestone County Courthouse in downtown Athens.   Anyone can walk to raise awareness for free, or kids can register for $10 and get a medal while supplies last, or teams may register for $5 per team member ( for teams of 10 or more) to enter to win a Super Team Trophy. Sep 9th -- Superhero Day in Big Spring Memorial Park (100 North Beaty Street in Athens) with Eli's Block Party.  Don your favorite superhero outfit, t-shirt or make-up your own for this special day to raise awareness of childhood cancer.  Activities, vendors, car show, fun run, music and more are packed into the day.  Website

Sep 9th -- 9/11 Heroes Run at the Alabama Veterans Museum (100 West Pryor Street in Athens) from 7:00AM-10:00AM.  Lace up your running shoes for Alabama's only Travis Manion Foundation 9/11 Heroes Run.  Runners will wind through the scenic streets of Athens as they remember the fallen of 9/11 and those who have fought the wars since.  Info and Registration

Sep 12th -- Elkmont High School Homecoming Parade at 6:00PM starting at Piggly Wiggly on AL-127 to Upper Fort Hampton Road to Highland Avenue to Redus Road to Elkmont High School.

Sep 14th -- Ardmore High School Pep Rally and Bonfire at Alabama Park (Park Avenue in Ardmore, AL) starting at 6:30PM.  Hot Dogs and drinks will be available, DJ, face painting, cheerleaders and the marching band will there too.  Bonfire lit at 7:30PM.

Sep 14th -- Farm to Fork Dinner 2017 with 1818 Farms (24889 Lauderdale Street in Mooresville) from 5:30PM-8:30PM benefiting the Nature Conservancy.  Natasha McCrary of 1818 Farm and Chef Jakob Reed present a four-course farm-to-table, gourmet experience in historic Mooresville.  Tickets $100.00 each.  Reserve Here

Sep 16th -- Alabama Tennessee Trail of Tears Commemorative Motorcycle Ride marking the tragic loss of life during the forced march of eastern United State's tribes to reservations in Oklahoma.   Motorcyclist will start in Bridgeport, TN and travel down U.S. Highway 72/Interstate 565 until the Exit 3- Greenbrier Exit.  After a stop over for lunch at Redstone Harley-Davidson, motorcyclist will then proceed north on Mooresville Road until U.S. Highway 72 turning left and traveling through Athens, Coxey, Clement and eventually into Lauderdale County to finish the ride at Waterloo.  ROUTE MAP -  WEBSITE  -  REDSTONE H-D  FACEBOOK EVENT PAGE
