Artists clamoring to
exhibit at AOTS 2011
Fifty artists will compete for increased prize money at this year’s Art on the Square, set for September 10 on the Athens courthouse square.
Among those exhibiting will be ceramicist David Edwards, who manages the artists’ showplace Lowe Mill in Huntsville, according to AOTS Vice President Diane Lehr.
“We are also proud to
host painter Michele Lee, who manages 16 Main in
Madison,” said Lehr. “Both of these artists know
art, know shows, know galleries, and they as
well as many, many others want to do this show.”
Lehr said AOTS has increased prize amounts to
winning artists this year to show the
organization’s commitment to attracting serious
artists to Athens. Prizes are: Best of Show,
$800; Second Place, $300, and Third, $200.
The show is from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on the Limestone County Courthouse grounds.
“We have all day local and regional musicians on the square and many dance surprises that day,” said Lehr.
Heavy rain location is the Athens State University gymnasium off East Hobbs Street
There will be an outside panel of judges that will choose the winners.
