ATHENS GARDEN CLUB DELIVERS FOOD AND CHECKS TO LCCI
 

ATHENS, AL. Members of the Athens Garden Club, Holly Carpenter, Carol Craft, and Cheryl Watrous, delivered an SUV filled with food, diapers, and paper products to LCCI to help those in need especially at this time of the year. All items were donated by AGC members.

Daisy McCormick, of Limestone County Churches Involved, was also presented with an envelope of personal checks which were given by members of the Athens Garden Club. AGC is active in supporting the LCCI food bank, and many other community based programs, including children in need at Christmas, college scholarships, the Hanging of the Greens, decorating the Donnell House, and other Athens community beautification programs, education, and gardening.

The Athens Garden Club fundraiser is the Spring Bake and Plant Sale which is held in April. The fundraiser helps support the college education scholarship fund, as well as the planting and decorating of the Donnell House, shrubbery and flower planting and maintenance at the Houston Library, and at the entrance to the Cecil Christopher Fitness Park. The fund also provides handcrafted wreaths and swags for Athens public institutions and businesses for the annual Hanging of the Green.
