John Wade Keyes Announces JAC Alabama Winners

Pam Waddell, JAC Committee Chairman, announced the nineteen Junior American Citizen (JAC) State winners  at the April meeting of the John Wade Keyes DAR chapter meeting.  The JAC Committee is the National Society’s second oldest youth-oriented committee, preceded only by the Children of the American Revolution. The origins of JAC can be traced to October 1901.  Today, through JAC clubs and contests, the Society offers direct service to every school-age child in the United States, promoting good citizenship and appreciation of American heritage and history.

The purpose of the Junior American Citizens Committee is to teach America's school children the principles of our democratic government and an appreciation for our great country. The contestants demonstrated through their art the 2010-2011 theme, “Preserving America’s Past.”
